Meta to Utilize Public Posts and AI Interactions for Model Training in the EU

UK Version of GDPR

Meta Platforms has announced plans to use public posts, comments from adults, and user interactions with its AI to train its artificial intelligence models within the European Union. This initiative follows a delayed launch of Meta AI in Europe due to stringent EU data protection regulations. Meta will inform EU users across Facebook and Instagram about the data collection practices and provide an option to object via a dedicated form. Notably, data from private messages and accounts of users under 18 will be excluded from AI training. This move comes amid increased scrutiny of AI practices by European regulators.
