European Data Act Reshapes Access to Industrial and IoT Data

UK Version of GDPR

The Data Act establishes rights for users to access and share data generated by connected products and related services. It also regulates cloud switching and prevents unfair contractual terms.

Although focused on non-personal data, the Act interacts heavily with GDPR when datasets contain mixed data. Organizations must establish governance models distinguishing personal and non-personal data access.

This regulation increases demand for data governance frameworks and legal-technical advisory services.
