European Commission Adopts EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework

UK Version of GDPR

The European Commission has officially adopted the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework (DPF), which replaces the invalidated Privacy Shield agreement and establishes new rules for transatlantic data transfers.

Under this new framework:
✅ U.S. companies must commit to stronger data protection obligations to receive personal data from the EU.
✅ The U.S. government must provide stronger safeguards to ensure intelligence agencies respect EU citizens’ privacy rights.
✅ Individuals in the EU will have access to new legal remedies if their data is misused by U.S. entities.

This decision is crucial for businesses operating across the EU and the U.S., as it provides a clearer legal foundation for transferring personal data between the two regions while ensuring that European data protection standards remain intact.
