EDPB Selects “Transparency and Information” as Coordinated Enforcement Focus for 2026

The European Data Protection Board (EDPB) has announced its fifth coordinated enforcement action topic for 2026: compliance with transparency and information obligations under the GDPR — specifically Articles 12, 13, and 14, which govern how organisations must inform individuals about data processing.
Through its Coordinated Enforcement Framework (CEF), the EDPB brings together national Data Protection Authorities (DPAs) to systematically review compliance across Member States and publish aggregated results. Previous coordinated actions have focused on cloud service use in the public sector, DPO designation, and the right of access. The new action will help identify areas where organisations consistently fail to provide clear privacy notices or adequate processing information, allowing targeted follow-up by national regulators.
This enforcement initiative underscores the continuing EU focus on GDPR compliance and effective data subject communication, tools that are essential for organisations subject to EU data protection standards.
