EDPB & EDPS Joint Opinion on Simplifying GDPR Record-Keeping
Dposphere
On 9 July 2025, the European Data Protection Board (EDPB) and European Data Protection Supervisor (EDPS) welcomed a Commission proposal to simplify Article 30 GDPR record-keeping obligations. They supported raising the exemption threshold from 250 to 750 employees, while insisting on safeguards for high-risk processing. This change, if adopted, would reduce compliance burden for many SMEs but still require careful risk assessments.
