Digital Markets Act Enforcement Targets Gatekeepers

UK Version of GDPR

The Digital Markets Act (DMA) introduces competition-focused obligations for large digital “gatekeepers.” While not a privacy law, DMA enforcement affects how platforms combine and reuse personal data across services.

Gatekeepers must obtain explicit user consent before cross-service data combination, reinforcing GDPR principles at scale.

Compliance now requires coordination between competition law, data protection, and consumer protection teams.
