Council & European Parliament Deal on Cross-Border GDPR Enforcement

UK Version of GDPR

On 16 June 2025, the Council of the EU and European Parliament reached a political agreement to make cross-border GDPR enforcement faster and more effective. The reform clarifies admissibility of complaints, introduces harmonized deadlines (15 months maximum for complex cases, 12 months for simpler ones), and gives complainants clearer rights throughout the procedure. This directly impacts multinational companies that often face investigations in several EU states at once.
